The Covid-19 infection rates in both boroughs dropped to below 20 new cases per 100,000 people in the seven days to April 7. Upper Edmonton East and Meridian Water was the worst-affected part of Enfield, with just seven cases of the virus. Chase Farm and The Ridgeway, Carterhatch and Forty Hall and Ponders End South recorded three cases, while the rest of the borough saw fewer than three cases of the virus.

Covid-19 rates have fallen in Enfield and Haringey Enfield and Haringey saw further steep falls in their seven-day coronavirus infection rates nearly one month into the national lockdown. The latest data reveals Enfield recorded 360 new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in the seven days to January 27 – the 14th highest rate in London. Haringey’s infection rate over the same period was 333 per 100,000 people – 18th out of the London boroughs. Despite the falls, they remained above the UK average Covid-19 infection rate of 273 new cases per 100,000 people. The worst-hit part of Enfield during the latest seven-day period was Ponders End South, which recorded 59 new cases of Covid-19 according to a government map of ‘middle layer super output areas’.

The 7-day Covid-19 infection rate in Enfield almost doubled (Image: Pixabay) The seven-day coronavirus infection rate has nearly doubled in Enfield as the borough prepares to enter the highest level of restrictions. The latest data shows the rate of new Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people reached 424.4 in the week to December 11 – up by 89 per cent on the previous week. In Haringey, the increase was less pronounced, climbing by 44 per cent to 279.7 new cases per 100,000. The latest infection rate data is based on figures from Public Health England published on the Government’s online coronavirus dashboard. It is subject to slight variations, as the figures are continually revised.
