Councillor Allison thanks volunteers and staff for contribution to emergency testing Merton Council has paid tribute to the “unbelievable” efforts of staff and volunteers following the successful operation of Merton s enhanced testing site. It comes as thousands of door-to-door and coronavirus tests take place in Pollard’s Hill, to track the South African variant of the virus after an isolated case was found in January. So far, staff and volunteers have delivered more than 5,500 tests since the launch of its operation on February 3. Multiple agencies, including council staff, volunteers, community groups and fire services, have been pulling together to deliver surge testing to 9,000 people across 5,000 homes.
