colleague got this great reporting about what nancy pelosi says she s prepared to offer donald trump. we re also to go into the policy wonk weeds here which i know you love. i m always into that. go ahead. apparently she s willing to offer six appropriation bills, and then a year-long cr, continuing resolution, that s a temporary government funding measure for homeland security funding. if the president doesn t want that, then she would agree to offer a year-long cr for all seven bills but they won t budge on this border wall money. my read on this is that donald trump isn t going to agree to any of this because it doesn t give him the money that he seeks, so this is the state of play. you have chuck schumer and nancy pelosi walking into this meeting feeling like they have all the leverage and they re not going to budge, in part because the base doesn t want to give donald trump a win on this border walsh, and you have donald trump needsi needing to emerge from this meeting with so
came in obviously george h.w. bush was famously said i think your supply side economics are voodoo economics and alienated the whole reagan team. it was a political retort at the time. as you recall he was not president reagan s first choice at vice president. then nominee republican nominee reagan was looking back to gerald ford. it was only that yeah, he is a moderate and will help with the idea that reagan is portrayed in the media as radically right to bring george bush on. it proved effective political strategy because bush won handily in 80 and overwhelmingly in 84 versus mondale. i think they were very different people at that point. one is the g.e. spokesman, the actor, larger than life. if he walked into the studio now we would be like there he is. when george h.w. bush walks in the room it is more like there is my pal, a very smart policy
