Former RRS Commander DCP Tunji Disu Appointed As Kyari’s Replacement
DCP Tunji Disu the immediate Past Commander of the Lagos State Security outfit, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), has been appointed as replacement for the embattled DCP Abba Kyari as Head, Police Intelligence Response Team.
In a release signed by CP Frank Mba, the Force PRO, the appointment was made by the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
According to the statement “The posting of the officer is on the heels of Management’s decision to fill the leadership gap within the IRT and refocus the Unit for better service delivery.

The Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Ogba has adjourned further hearing in the case of attempted kidnap of a businessman, Akin Doherty, till April 27, 2021.
Doherty allegedly escaped being abducted from an estate on Victoria Island, Lagos, by three men, who allegedly claimed to be operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
It was gathered that the suspects, Babatunde Oyesanmi, Austine Ofuani and David Olusoji, stormed the estate to abduct Doherty on the pretext that he was being arrested for an undisclosed offence.
PUNCH Metro learnt that when residents of the estate approached the suspects to find out why they invaded the estate without an arrest warrant or invite Doherty to their office, they hurriedly left.

Seven members of a gang that allegedly specialises in robbery and kidnapping in Abia State are cooling off their heels in the custody of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.
The suspects, Basil Macdonald, Emeka Uche, Godwin Rafael, Uzoma Samuel, Sunday Chibuike, Godwin Kalu and Abraham Thompson, were apprehended in their various hideouts in Aba town.
City Round learnt that detectives went after them following the murder of two point of sale operators, Ezinne Iroh and Dr Victor Chimaobi, in the town. The gang reportedly killed Iroh on January 31, 2021 after robbing her of N150,000 while Chimaobi was murdered on January 21.

A suspected robber, Kudus Yunus, has been arrested by the police for allegedly carjacking about seven vehicles in different parts of Lagos State.
He was apprehended alongside two car dealers, Abdulbasit Mohammed and Tony Nwadia; a suspected smuggler, Kazeem Aluko, a Customs agent, Joseph Oyeniyi and two alleged gunrunners, Chigozie Odinaka and Ahmed Adebayo.
One Abudulahi Mohammed and Nasiru Mohammed, accused of receiving some of the stolen cars, were also nabbed by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.
Yunus reportedly specialised in carjacking Toyota Corolla cars at gunpoint and had operated in areas such as Palmgroove, Yaba and Festac Town.
