Pakistan to hold Legislative Assembly polls in PoK today ANI 25 Jul 2021, 08:55 GMT+10 Islamabad [Pakistan], July 25 (ANI): After weeks-long political rallies throughout Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, polling for the occupied region s Legislative Assembly will be held on Sunday. Radio Pakistan reported that the polling will begin at 08:00 hours and continue till 5:00 pm. Over three million voters will elect their representatives for PoK Legislative Assembly for the next term. A total of 587 candidates are contesting the polls in 33 constituencies of PoK districts and 121 candidates on 12 constituencies of refugees settled in Pakistan. On Saturday, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appealed to locals in the area to exercise their vote and also to ensure that ballot thieves do not win, referring to the Imran Khan-led ruling government.

Pakistan-occupied Kashmir holds legislative Assembly elections

1469 Islamabad, July 25  Voters in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir cast their ballots on Sunday to elect the region s legislative assembly, in an election marred by allegations of irregularities and violence that killed at least two workers of Prime Minister Imran Khan s party. The gates of polling stations were closed to new voters at 5pm. However, those inside the polling stations were allowed to cast their ballot. The polling started at 8am and continued till 5pm.  Counting will start after the voting ends. India has previously slammed Pakistan for its decision to hold elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and said any action to alter the status of the militarily occupied region has no legal basis.
