all of the factors that were working in her favor. got her close. but they were indications i think a lot of democrats were looking at arizona before this election and saying they d be happy if they kept the senate seat and lost the governorship. they would be happy, but they were realistically talking about, hey, if we re gonna split of those two, they were saying, that wouldn t be the worst outcome given the possibilities. instead, they win the senate seat fairly easily as it turns out. a five point margin. there they win the governorship, they win the secretary of state s office. that s what that looks like, and again this attorney general s race now, to the extent arizona is still a live story here. this attorney general s race still obviously 4000 votes, democrats can be hopeful about that given again what we are talking about in terms of provisional ballots and stuff still from pima, there are places where he base can hang on. if she does hang on, it will be by a small amount,
drama in nevada. help us understand, while you are there, how nevada went blue? well, so remember, it was blue, catherine cortez masto was the incumbent here. you see how close this race is, we still have a bunch of vote out. he was ahead of she s going to the united states senate, first of all, up here and washoe county, earlier this week, adam laxalt was winning this county, it was red, in the first day after the election or so, and then, it flipped blue as more votes came in. you see 50.3% in this county 46.9%, so a little more than a 3% point margin and what has been a bit of a battleground county in nevada politics. but it was down here in clark county, in the las vegas area,
biden, you broke for democrats by a slim but four point margin. that s an enormous difference and it really suggests that republicans can t just coast on being negative and talking about how much they dislike democrats. they have to prove and earn the trust of the american people who are looking at them skeptically and saying, i don t like what we ve got but i m worried it can get worse if we hand things over. they need to earn that trust. wolf, can i comment about the trust and candidates? go ahead. absolutely, everything she said was spot on. there were a few republicans that followed the model. ron desantis in florida, brian kemp in georgia, mike dewine in ohio. you did see some republican governors create their own brand and set aside extremism and set aside, you know, the things that turned off these moderate and independent voters. they just governed like you would expect somebody to govern, sort of between the 40 yard lines of american politics.
was a good night for progressives in particular. turn now to our senior data report harry data inton. so where do progressives score these wins? across the country but zoom in on a few races to start. pennsylvania, the senate race there, john fetterman defeating mehmet oz who went after fetterman with his record on crime. he ran as a progressive candidate in the 2016, wasn t successful. got through the primary this time around and nearly a 4 point margin. they may go over 4 points when the wins are there. and going to a congressional race around the pittsburgh area. we see summer lee a lot of last minutes doubts, this is a democratic district, she was the progressive, look at that result. a clear win there, double digit win. turns out the last minute
in 2016, donald trump lost miami-dade county by 30 points to hillary. in 2020, that 30-point margin was just an 8 point margin in favor of biden. and now you are seeing miami-dade county go completely red by double digits, both for marco and for the governor. i think it means that people in miami-dade county and in florida by the way you win miami-dade county you have a great chance of winning florida by a huge margin we saw that also last night. a 20-point margin in florida, which is unheard of for a republican candidate it sets a template for now we can win nationally. we have three simple rules. keep taxes low. keep people safe and we need innovation to create high paying jobs on the greatest country on the planet. that message has resonated with miami-dade county voters and they are rewarding republicans because we are, you know, because we are running a competent government.
