The Pocono Arts Council has announced the award recipients for “The Earth Speaks VII: A Juried Exhibition on the Environmental Crisis.
Award recipients were recognized for their work based on the theme of the climate emergency and participated in a roundtable discussion of their work in an online event to be held tonight from 6-7 p.m. via Zoom at bit.ly/3sF9mSZ

Of the 46 pieces of art, only 26 were selected to be included in this year s juried Earth Speaks exhibit. 21 artists from states such as Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Maryland and Massachusetts were chosen for the show.

Organizations across Pennsylvania have put together events and programs for Earth Day 2021 on Thursday.
Starting at 10 a.m., First Lady Frances Wolf will welcome several Pennsylvania agencies for the annual Governor’s Residence Earth Day celebration, which this year will be held virtually. It will feature learning activities and information geared toward middle- and high-school students.
The theme will be Protecting the Environment for All Pennsylvanians, and the event will include activities from the Pennsylvania departments of Environmental Protection, Conservation and Natural Resources, Education and Agriculture, and the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

Pocono Arts Council announces winners of its Juried Student Exhibition

The Pocono Arts Council presents its annual Juried Student Exhibition with events starting on April 3.
The show, located in the Community Gallery, 701 Main St., Stroudsburg will feature 39 entries from students in kindergarten through 12th grade enrolled in the Monroe County School District and runs through April 23.
The exhibition includes works in 2-D, 3-D, and Photography. Mediums represented include acrylic, collage, mixed media, pastel, paper, photography, watercolor, oil, pencil, and pen and ink.
Schools represented in 2021 include Clear Run Elementary Center, East Stroudsburg Senior High School North, Evergreen Community School, J.T. Lambert Intermediate School, Little Mountain Academy, Notre Dame High School, Pleasant Valley High School, Pocono Mountain West High School, Swiftwater Elementary Center, Swiftwater Intermediate School, along with several home school students.

The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has canceled organized in-person events and programs in parks as COVID-19 cases rise, while keeping state parks and forests open for individual and small group usage.
The cancelation, effective Sunday, Dec. 6, affects about 150 planned events, including First Day Hikes on Jan. 1. Be sure to call ahead regarding outdoor activities that are slated to occur in public parks.
