ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has finally issued its detailed order on a post arrest bail application of former finance minister Miftah Ismail, stating that the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) estimate about a loss to the national exchequer due to an LNG deal was based on presumptions. NAB arrested Miftah on August 7, 2019 after the IHC rejected his plea for bail extension in the LNG terminal case on the grounds that there were no “extraordinary circumstances of hardship”.

The PTI and the PML-N on Friday rejected the results of the by-election in Karachi as PPP’s Qadir Khan Mandokhail emerged victorious in NA-249 after securing 16,156 votes.
PML-N’s Miftah Ismail came in second with 15,473 votes, followed by the candidate from the recently banned Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), Mufti Nazeer Ahmed Kamalvi, who secured 11,125 votes, unofficial results showed. Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal was at fourth place with 9,227 votes, followed by PTI’s Amjad Afridi with 8,922 votes.
