Wyoming Valley Wyoming Valley Children’s Association (WVCA) will hold its 29th annual “Do It for the Kids” Walk-A-Thon on Saturday, April 17. Rain date is Saturday, May 1. Presenting sponsor is Sundance Vacations. The walk-a-thon will be modified this year to allow for social distancing and COVID-19 safety procedures. The event will be held outdoors, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the WVCA school. Guests will now be required to preschedule timeslots for the walk and all food and promotional items will be provided with “to-go” options. Police: Pepper-sprayed man tries stealing ambulance

A Plymouth man who was pepper sprayed during an altercation tried stealing an ambulance that brought him to Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, according to police. Elijah Kareem Rivers, 20, was arrested after attempting to steal the ambulance around 1 p.m. Wednesday, police said. According to police, Rivers was involved in an incident in Plymouth Borough that led to him being pepper sprayed. As he was being taken to the hospital, Rivers began acting erratically in the back of the ambulance, police said. Upon arriving at the hospital, Rivers jumped into the driver s seat of the ambulance and tried several times to put it in gear, but ultimately ran from the scene when he was unable to put the vehicle into drive, police said.
