It was a quiet day for COVID-19 vaccine sites across the Bay Area. Many sites sat empty Sunday morning as vaccination efforts were delayed or postponed due to inclement weather.

TAMPA â Hillsborough Countyâs COVID-19 vaccination surge is being accompanied by an increasing number of cases of the coronavirus infection.
The dichotomy came with little explanation Wednesday. But, Dr. Douglas Holt, director of the state Health Department for Hillsborough County, told county commissioners variants of the coronavirus were not tied to the increased caseload.
Polk County teachers have a growing list of opportunities to get vaccinated against COVID-19, including the county s first clinic on Saturday.
Polk County Public Schools announced it is working in conjunction with Florida Department of Health in Polk County to host a vaccination clinic Saturday morning for teachers age 50 and older. The event is by appointment only and will be held at Lake Region High, 1995 Thunder Road in Eagle Lake.
It s been 11 days since Gov. Ron DeSantis signed executive orders to extend vaccination priority to law enforcement officers, firefighters and teachers age 50 and older.
Teddra Porteous, the school district’s associate superintendent of Human Resources Services, told The Ledger an email was sent to all staff members to provide instructions on how to sign up for an appointment. An invitation to be vaccinated also was extended to the county s private and charter schools, Porteous said.
No appointment needed at FEMA coronavirus vaccine sites in Hillsborough and Polk counties
Walker Road Park in Lakeland is one of two FEMA mobile sites that opened Thursday. The other is at Hillsborough Community Collegeâs Southshore campus in Ruskin. They are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and appointments are not required.

LAKELAND, Fla. â Two new FEMA drive-up COVID-19 vaccination sites are up and running in Hillsborough and Polk counties.
There was virtually no wait time at the FEMA drive-up satellite vaccination site at Walker Road Park in Lakeland. Some are even comparing it to going to a Fastfood drive-thru.
