No matter the age, Polk teachers have options to get a COVID-19 vaccine

Polk County teachers have a growing list of opportunities to get vaccinated against COVID-19, including the county's first clinic on Saturday. 
Polk County Public Schools announced it is working in conjunction with Florida Department of Health in Polk County to host a vaccination clinic Saturday morning for teachers age 50 and older. The event is by appointment only and will be held at Lake Region High, 1995 Thunder Road in Eagle Lake.
It's been 11 days since Gov. Ron DeSantis signed executive orders to extend vaccination priority to law enforcement officers, firefighters and teachers age 50 and older. 
Teddra Porteous, the school district’s associate superintendent of Human Resources Services, told The Ledger an email was sent to all staff members to provide instructions on how to sign up for an appointment. An invitation to be vaccinated also was extended to the county's private and charter schools, Porteous said.
