President Joe Biden put pen to paper Friday, signing an executive order to try and protect some reproductive access for women. But he noted that it only goes so far, and the head of Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin said it’s not far enough, adding what women really need is their reproductive rights back.
In addition to Planned Parenthood Wisconsin, there are several organizations that are working within Wisconsin to help people who have an unplanned, unwanted, or dangerous pregnancy.
Dr. Kathy King is the medical director of Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin and has spent the week working toward getting her license in Illinois to continue helping Wisconsin women access health care. She shares more about her concerns and next steps as an abortion provider.
Wisconsin has an 1849 law that bans abortion, except to save the life of the mother, but whether that law is enforceable is expected to be challenged in court.
