Evening. He is okay, 100 . Juan says his coworker is in good shape. Both physically and emotionally, after being rescued early this morning from a hole he fell into yesterday afternoon. 42yearold man fell 17 feet into a sewer line in east oakland. With Construction Material falling on top of him. Really the plywood and the 4 x 4 bracing and everything on him across the back of his legs, so he was trapped. We couldnt lift him out without tearing his leg off, if you will. Firefighters say when they got there, the man was up to his neck in sand. They had to use a vacuum to get it out. It took more than 13 hours to free him and pull him to safety. I want to say thank you to the fire department. They are very helpful. They explain to him, relax. Give him medicine and all that. Resuming debate we left off yesterday. Let me try and give a summary of what this is all about. This is all about getting our fiscal house in order. This is all about prioritizing hardworking taxpayer dollars. This is all about doing in our generation what we need to do to make sure the next generation has a secure future, a debtfree future. So thats why we are bringing a budget to the floor and thats why we are making those difficult decision, and thats why we are advocating for these important reforms.
