Izard County’s baseball team wrapped up the Pioneer Classic at Batesville Saturday with a third-place finish in its Big School Division. After falling to the host Pioneers earlier in the day, the Cougars bounced back and doubled up Gosnell 6-3.
Denton Reilley picked up the win by pitching a complete game and giving up four hits. Noah Everett led the Izard County offense with three hits and two RBIs.
The Cougars are now 6-1 on the season.

The Mountain Home High School softball team had a rough outing at home on Friday falling to Greene County Tech 6-4. Georgia Burnham led the Lady Bombers by going two-for-three with a solo home run, a double and a walk, and Lauren Loving was two-for-four with an RBI. Mountain Home drops to 10-4 on the season.
Mountain Home fared better in the junior varsity game. The JV Lady Bombers were down to their last out, when Emma Crabb hit a walk-off two-run triple for a 4-3 win over Tech. Emma Crabb was one-for-two with two RBIs, Josie Kelly went two-for-two, and Tori Robb and Olivia Crabb each went one-for-two.
