The proposed fiscal year 2024 budget represents a $16 million increase over the current year and contains a proposal to raise the real estate tax rate by 2 cents from $0.67 per $100 of assessed value to $0.69 per $100.
County Administrator Rodney Hathaway said the proposed budget attempts to address many of the county’s capital needs that were deferred in previous years “due to affordability.”
