so they pretty much ruled out an obvious cause for pilot suicide. good point. all right, guys. we re going to stay on top of the story. good conversation. thanks to all of you. by the way, to our viewers, for more information how to help those impacted by air disasters everywhere, go to cnn.com/impact. just ahead, two police officers who backed up the claims of an ex-cop now charged with that ex-cop charged with murder, the two other cops changing their stories. will they be damaged? how much tax did hillary clinton pay? does she have any health problems? her campaign is now just revealing new details about all of that and 94. we re combing through a new watch of her e-mails just released by the state department.
whether it will happen soon, putting a time on it, i would not even think to put a timeline on it. i remember, miles, and i want your quick thought on this. at the time you raised the issue, rene marsh, our aviation corresponde correspondent, raised it as well. the pilot in this case, there was a lot of examination of his background, supposedly he had some issues, some problems in his personal life going on. you talk about the computer simulations he was going through. i don t want to smear this pilot because obviously he has disappeared. but there have been several cases of what they call pilot suicide aboard these kinds of aircra aircraft. it s happened before. it s never happened quite like this, wolf. but it s not an unknown event. the one that s most obvious and known to americans is egypt air 990 in the late 90s off of new york. but it s happened. and it s a sad, horrible possibility. and of course, more recently, the germanwings event.
it s a huge breach of security on that particular type of aircraft. i don t think we can say for certain i believe it was a deliberate act. but i do not think you can rule out that there was somebody who stowed away in the compartment or commandeered the aircraft using that care built, that access. why do you think u.s. intelligence is pushing out this assessment now? i don t know. speculate. why are they leaking it now? why are they leaking some facts now? one can only imagine for their own political purposes. mechanical you still think mechanical? i think there s a mechanical option that cannot be ignored. miles disagreed with me on this point. others do as well. but i think that having let s take the pilot s suicide. i don t think it was pilot suicide. how can you be certain about anything?
anthony investigated the crash of egypt air flight 990, many concluded it was kaudzed edcaused by pilot suicide. silk air, american authorities determined it was krashd because of actions taken by the pilot. what is your theory regarding mh370? in view of the context of all the evidence of everything that is on the ground and what s been found, it looks like that the most likely theory would be intentional interference by the pilot. i think that this investigation can only be solved on the ground. it may have clues at the bottom of the ocean. it may have clues on the beaches of reunion island. but i think the answers the final answers of why this happened can only be determined on the ground. when he talks about on the ground he s talking about investigators in malaysia looking into the background of the pilot and the co-pilot.
a human being had to direct this plane. there were too many twists and turns to its flight path. basically, peter, you re saying it wasn t a mcal failure or anything like that? this was a deliberate act by someone or some people in that cockpit to take that plane down, whether it was pilot suicide, co-pilot suicide. somebody else wanted to take that plane down for whatever reason? i think that s the only conclusion you can come to at this point. there s a lot of discussion about a fire in the e & eba bay. the electronics bay. it doesn t explain the performance of the plane as to what happened in terms of its identification in the transponder and acars. are you surprised by that assessment that someone deliberately put that plane in the water? i m not surprised. i would like to see more evidence before we call one of the two pilots a mass murderer. i think that s the problem i have. we can t prove or disprove
