Now, it is hot and dry. Though it is getting a bit late in the season, folks near salinas on the evidence of a scary but muchneeded preplanned controlled burn to read a high fire prone area of grass, brush and debris that could promote the destructive runway wildfires. We are looking at doing statewide, increasing when possible, the areas that we do burns. I believe this last year, we have done approximately 15 to 20,000 acres of burns. The bulk of those are occurring on private lands. Reporter experts say much more is needed. We are trying to come up to about 250,000 or 200,000 acres in california over the next 5 years. Arendt as canyon road was closed most of the day as it will be each day this week to clear as much brush as possible from under big trees. The lowlying stuff is what can allow fire to reach the crowns of big keys trees, finally, the state has provided major funding. 200 million per year are available for Forest Restoration and prescribed fire. Those kinds of numbers ne
