A Riverlink project set to revamp waterways at Erskine-Walton Apartments in Asheville is moving forward with the support and input of nearby residents.
At Herb Watts Park May 11, RiverLink heard overall positive reaction to the plan to improve safety and water quality in the area, said Renee Fortner, watershed resources manager for RiverLink.
The project, which is being spurred on by a $30,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina s Pigeon River Fund, hopes to address flooding at Erskine-Walton Apartments, Asheville s largest public housing complex, by expanding an existing wetland, rehabbing a concrete stream and improving water quality in Nasty Branch.
