A new RiverLink program is off to a hot start, allowing local volunteers in central Asheville to adopt a storm drain to protect local waterways from pollution.
The new Adopt-a-Storm Drain Program, a partnership with the city of Asheville's Public Works Stormwater Division, covers central Asheville, from downtown to the River Arts District and the East-End/Valley Street, Southside Community and West-End Clingman Avenue neighborhoods, according to a release.
It's a pilot program funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina's Pigeon River Fund hoping to pair volunteers with a drain in their neighborhood.
