howie: well, it looks like a picture perfect landing, a smashing success. i ve been on plane landings that were a lot bumpier than that. it s incredible drone footage as we come in and there is full stop. howie: the crowd there i m sure very happy. jeff paul. we did get to see that shot of richard branson kind of clapping his hands together, knowing that he s just completed this historic flight and just watching those pictures was something when you consider all the technology and the hard work and the risks involved and now we re looking at the plane having successfully completed its landing. your thoughts? yeah, 90 minute flight, a very historic one and he s back down on the ground. it s pretty surreal to think that in an hour and-a-half an hour and-a-half ago we watched him get into the suv and head out to space and now he s back

cnn s richard quest interviewed the co pilot last month. a week before the plane disappeared you spent time with the co pilot. what was he like? charming. charming, polite. suddenly he had a very he knew we were filming. he had a very senior captain sitting with him. t that check captain that we heard about, that check captain was also there, as well. although he was in charge of the aircraft he wasn t in command the captain remained in command. he was absolutely delightful. he loved flying. he made polite conversation. not that i am an expert on this. when asked the captain said this man has trained in the simulator and trained for many hours. he is an experienced first officer and did a picture
bit. still so many unanswered questions. and really eerie, richard, because you actually met the co-pilot of this this plane and actually sat in the cockpit of a similar aircraft just a few days ago. tell us about him and what you learned from this experience. it was. i mean, we were very lucky and privileged. we had been grant ed to fly on n air flight. filming for cnn business traveler. it was all authorized and properly managed. we had a safety captain who was there as well. and he was flying the aircraft. he s a relatively new experienced first officer. and he was flying the 777 and did a picture perfect landing to kul kuala lumpar. in the left-hand seat was
of space shuttles. stay tuned. lit take as you little while. we are still working on it but keep watching. we will be launching again. we will stay in the business, as they said, the united states is not out space business. absolutely. we have proven for 30 years that we know how to get to lower orbit. we built this fantastic international space station. lit keep operating at least through 2020, conducting research in this incredible laboratory with the micro gravity environment of space we cannot replicate here on earth. we are going to still explore and research there but we have proven we know how to get to lower orr. it next step is we need to go on. absolutely. that s going to be the challenge for you and the rest of the folks at nasa. as we see atlantis sitting on the edge of the runway, it is, in fact, over for the space shuttle program. that s right. thank you for that. we want to get the take of what it is like in haas ton at mission control where i
