PHS Wrestling finishes 3rd in 7-AAAA, Sends 8 to StatePHS Wrestling, Team FYN Sports

Pickens County, Ga Pickens High School was the center of the 7-AAAA wrestling world on Saturday, February 6th as teams from all seven schools arrived to try to win a region title as a team, but send individual wrestlers to the 4A State Tournament as well. It was a productive tournament for the hosts, the Pickens Dragons as they placed 3rd in the overall region standings. The Dragons also made a little history on Saturday sending a school record 8 wrestlers to the state tournament. Here are the finishes for the 8 Dragon wrestlers that punched their ticket to state:
Margaret Been Hull passed away on Dec. 14, 2020, in Greenville South Carolina.
She was born May 27, 1925, to Nellie Emily Daetwyler Been and Oath Washington Been in Pickens.
“I lived to teach. My family was my life.” Margaret gave a love that was selfless and valued her family above all else. She valued education, hard work, lifelong learning and left an imprint on family, friends and students. Margaret graduated from Pickens High School, received her B.S. degree in elementary education from West Virginia Wesleyan, and her Master of Science degree in early childhood education from the University of Delaware. From the age of 6, Margaret knew she wanted to teach and was able to live out her dream. In 1944, she taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Silica. In 1963, she moved her family to Delaware to teach first grade. For 8 years during her teaching career, she supervised student teachers for the University of Delaware. In 1999, she moved to Greenville, South Carolina to be closer
