Friday fishing report for Alabama
Updated 2:00 AM;
At Lake Guntersville, Captain Mike Gerry reports the spring bass bite is on, and should continue despite the chilly nights forecast for the coming week. He said most bass have moved to water less than 10 feet deep, where water temperature is in the high 60′s and low 70′s in the afternoons, and many fish are spawning or have spawned.
This means searching out hard-bottom areas with grass, blowdowns, stumps or boat docks likely will produce for the next several weeks. He said best baits have been soft plastics, including his favorite Missile bait D-Bombs, Missile 48 stick baits, Tight Line football jigs and tight-Line Swim jigs. He said there’s also a brief dawn flurry on Picasso Buzzbaits and SPRO frogs around grassy bays and shorelines; www.fishlakeguntersvilleguideservice.com.
