With several farmer leaders courting arrest in the aftermath of the January 26 violence in Delhi, commotion around farmers protests sites at the Ghazipur and Singhu border has increased.
Highlights
Protesting farmers did not follow the marked route for their tractor march on Republic Day and forcibly entered central Delhi by removing police barricades.
They clashed with the police and also entered the Red Fort and unfurled their flags from its ramparts.
Farmers have been camping at the border areas of the national capital for almost two months as part of their protest against Centre`s three agriculture laws. New Delhi, Jan 18: Borders of the national capital with its neighbouring states-Haryana and Uttar Pradesh-remained closed at several points on Monday due to the continued agitation by farmers who have been protesting against three new farm laws.
The city s 10 border points-eight with Haryana and two with Uttar Pradesh-remained closed fully or partially after restrictions were first placed at Singhu and Tikri borders on November 26.
Delhi s borders with Uttar Pradesh at Chilla and Ghazipur remain closed for those coming from Noida and Ghaziabad, while the carriageways on the opposite sides are open.

The Delhi Police on Monday informed that Chilla and Ghazipur borders are closed for traffic coming from Noida and Ghaziabad to the national capital due to ongoing farmer protests. People have been advised to take alternate routes via Anand Vihar, Delhi-Noida Direct Flyway, Bhopra and Loni borders.
Besides this, the Delhi-Haryana borders at Singhu, Auchandi, Piau Maniyari, Saboli and Mangesh have also been closed.
Police have suggested commuters from Haryana to take alternate routes via Lampur Safiabad, Palla and Singhu school toll tax borders. The traffic has been diverted from Mukarba and GTK road.
