Pianist Lora Kolean to Present Faculty Recital on March 18 Pianist Lora Kolean of the Hope College music faculty will present a recital Thursday, March 18, at 11 a.m. with the live performance available for viewing online at hope.edu/live.
Out of an abundance of caution due to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, in-person attendance is being limited to a small campus audience.
Kolean will be performing “Op. 34,” by Ludwig van Beethoven; “Transcendental Etude No. 11,” by Franz Liszt; and “Sonata No. 1, Op. 22,” by Alberto Ginastera.
Kolean is an assistant professor of music and head of the keyboard area at Hope, where
Honoring Bonnie Lowdermilk, a Boulder Colorado-based pianist, vocalist, and piano teacher.
Bonnie began piano lessons at age six and within a few years was singing and playing at Kiwanis and church functions in various ensembles. Bonnie received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in Piano Pedagogy and Performance with a Minor in Voice and performed around town with groups such as the Denver Concert Jazz Quartet and Fred Hess’ Creative Music Ensemble. She has studied jazz piano privately with Ted Alexander, Katy Roberts (formerly a teacher at Berklee School of Music), Eric Gunnison and Art Lande.
