A new foundation toward achieving the next generation of artificial intelligence

Credit: World Scientific Human beings are living inside an ocean of signals. These signals enable human beings to demonstrate intelligence. Similarly, machines are also surrounded by signals. Artificial intelligence (AI) or machine intelligence has become a hot topic for many decades due to the high expectation of the public on the emergence of smart machines and smart products. However, the AI research community is still struggling to determine the foci of machine intelligence. For instance, the low-level focus of AI is to advocate computer-aided human intelligence. We believe that the more challenging focus should aim at creating machines that can achieve human-like self-intelligence by themselves.

Depositions in shorts after the pandemic? Remote depositions are likely becoming the norm, but dress-down shouldn t | Farrell Fritz, P C

(see Fed. R. Civ. P. 30(b)(4)).  The dramatic increase in use, comfort level, and apparent permanency is a direct result of the pandemic. Indeed, the vision of the Commercial Division Advisory Council (“CDAC”) is to ensure that the Commercial Division remains at the forefront of this trend. In September 2020, the CDAC sought to adopt a new Commercial Division Rule that would expressly authorize and regulate the use of remote depositions (the “ Remote Deposition Proposal”).  The Remote Deposition Proposal seeks to provide further guidance on what is considered undue hardship, a standardized remote deposition protocol form, the validity of an oath or affirmation administered during a remote deposition when the court reporter is not physically located where the witness is present, and protections for defending attorneys and their clients in the event of technical difficulties.  The Proposal went out for

Emilia A. Caylor; Barbara Carrapa; Kurt Sundell; Peter G. DeCelles; Joshua M. Smith Abstract: The Upper Cretaceous Fort Crittenden Formation exposed in the Santa Rita and Huachuca Mountains of southeastern Arizona is a syntectonic deposit that has been associated with Laramide tectonic activity. However, the spatio-temporal relationships among Cretaceous sedimentation, magmatism, basement exhumation, and possible flat slab-related processes in the southern Laramide region remain poorly understood. Age controls for uplift and erosion of local topography and syntectonic deposition in response to deformation remain particularly poor. The Fort Crittenden Formation comprises 800?2500 m of locally derived fluvial to alluvial fan sedimentary rocks and records paleodrainage reorganization in response to active tectonics. Changes in sedimentary facies, provenance, and paleoflow suggest deposition in a tectonically partitioned intraforeland basin. New detrital zircon data constrain the timin
