Janee’ Thomas, Moisés Luna and Maya Miller will be some of the first Hampton seniors to graduate this spring.
They won’t get their high school diplomas like their classmates at Phoebus High School until June. But on May 13, they’ll graduate from Thomas Nelson Community College with associate degrees.
The three are part of the first graduating class of Hampton’s Academy of Advanced College Experience. They’re also some of the first graduates to have made it through a whole year of school in the pandemic.

HAMPTON, Va. - A motorcyclist was rushed to the hospital after a crash in the area of E. Pembroke Avenue and Grimes Road Thursday night.
The call came in at 7:05 p.m.
Police say the crash involved the motorcycle and one other vehicle, an SUV.
Officers are investigating an accident involving a motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection of Pembroke Ave. and Grimes Rd. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Call received at 7:07PM. NEWPORT NEWS, Va. Murder and weapons charges against a man accused of fatally shooting a college student at a gas station in Newport News were certified to a grand jury Friday.
Elijah Dayron Armstrong was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony after a deadly shooting that happened on September 16, 2019.
