CHARLOTTE – A man federal prosecutors say is responsible for trafficking meth into Burke and Catawba counties has been sentenced to serve more than two decades in prison.
Georgia inmate Alfonso Roman Brito was sentenced to 25 years in prison for his role in coordinating the distribution of methamphetamine from Georgia to Catawba and Burke counties.

46-year-old Phillip Anthony Godfrey of Viewpoint Road in Newton was arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of stolen goods. Godfrey was jailed this morning (January 21) in the Catawba County Detention Facility under $5,000 bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today.
