Senator Leila de Lima on Tuesday, April 20, lauded the Filipino-American healthcare groups who sought United States President Joe Biden’s help in expediting the 20 million Moderna vaccines purchased by the Philippine government and private sector from the US drug company.

De Lima said the efforts of the members of these groups is laudable and will help address the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines.
“The members of these groups may be miles away from us, but they showed that distance can never prevent them from going the extra mile to show concern and love for their countrymen and ensure that their fellow Filipinos’ lives will be protected,” De Lima said in a statement.

Opposition Senator Leila M. de Lima has commended Filipino-American healthcare groups for their collective effort to help speed-up the 20 million Moderna vaccines purchased by the Philippine government and the private sector from the American drug company as COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the country.
De Lima, a known human rights defender here and abroad, said the move by the Filipino American groups including the US Medicare in the Philippines and the Philippine Medical Association of Metro Washington DC to seek for US President Joe Biden s help for Moderna jabs is laudable.

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, April 15) Several groups led by US-based Filipinos urged US President Joe Biden to help speed up the delivery of the initial doses of Moderna s COVID-19 vaccine purchased by the Philippines, in light of the fresh surge in coronavirus cases in the country.
They sent a letter to Biden asking him to advocate for the immediate release of five million Moderna [vaccine doses] by May and not to wait until July 2021. The situation is dire, and the Philippines needs immediate help, the organizations added.
