James Ndegwa exits CMA after six years

The tenure of billionaire businessman James Ndegwa at the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) has come to an end, bringing to a close his six-year term that was marked with conflict of interest accusations.
Mr Ndegwa, who was first appointed to head the board in April 2015 and reappointed on March 28, 2018, announced his exit at the regulator at a closed virtual CMA forum on Tuesday.

Mr Nyachae was among the top owners of Transnational Bank through Simbi Investors’ 8.2 million shares or 4.11 percent of the bank before it was bought out by Nigeria’s Access Bank.
He owns 14.96 per cent stake of Credit Bank through Sansora Group where he was the founding member and formerly served as the chairman.
If Kenyan bank shareholders and directors were required to attend AGMs on the same day, Simeon Nyachae would have had difficulty choosing which ones to go to or skip.

Former Cabinet minister and ex-Nyaribari Chache MP, Simeon Nyachae, has died at the age of 88.
The businessman, politician, former chief secretary and ex-head of civil service died at the Nairobi Hospital on Monday, February 1 where he had been undergoing treatment, the family said.
In his condolence message, President Uhuru Kenyatta said Nyachae s successful transition from public service to the world of business and politics was a demonstration that focus and hard work pays. Throughout his many years of service to the nation, right from his time in the provincial administration through to his transition into business and politics, Mzee Nyachae exhibited exemplary zeal to succeed and as he exits from this world, he leaves behind a rich legacy of success, President Kenyatta eulogised.
