Chelsea boss Emma Hayes: There is only one Super League the WSL

Chelsea Women manager Emma Hayes has said that the only Super League “is the one that we play in”.
Plans for a breakaway Super League, which spectacularly collapsed this week, stated that a corresponding women’s competition would be formed, involving the 12 ‘founding members’.
But of the 12 clubs proposed to be in a women’s European Super League, only one Arsenal has ever won the UEFA Women’s Champions League, while five have never qualified for it.
“The right thing has happened,” Chelsea manager Hayes has said ahead of her club’s Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich on Sunday. “I’m grateful. There is only one Super League and it’s the WSL, the Women’s Super League.”

This summer’s European Championships will come “too soon” for Dublin’s Aviva Stadium to host fans, according to Irish deputy prime minister Leo Varadkar.
Earlier this month, the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) missed UEFA’s first deadline to provide assurances that fans would be able to attend matches in the country at the Euros. Dublin is scheduled to host three Euro 2020 Group E matches in June.
UEFA is due to make a decision on three host cities, Dublin, Munich and Bilbao on Friday.
What did Varadkar say?
Trafalgar Square is being earmarked for a 12,500-capacity fan park for the upcoming European Championship.
The proposed fan park would screen all the Euro 2020 matches being played at Wembley Stadium during the tournament all three of England’s group games, one last 16 tie, both semi-finals and the final.
If Gareth Southgate’s side progress from Group D, their potential last 16 and quarter-final games will be played abroad and will be screened at the Trafalgar Square fan park.

If approved, Trafalgar Square will be able to house up to 12,500 people during the Euros.
