Hopefully everybody is out because if they are not they are dead. A firefighter collapsed walking out of the burning home and our cameras captured the moments she wake taken to the ambulance and we are told she has an injury to her lower leg. The residents smelled smoke and called 911. They heard the smoke detecters and came out and called 911. The burned out shelf what was once a home tells the story of how tense the fire was. Two units were decide and two others were heavily damaged by smoke and water and just feet away stunned neighbors survey the damage. One says their dog woke them up to the nightmare. I called 911 and my husband is a Police Officer and they ran around and pulled two women off their back deck. The front of house was engulfed in flames and it was an inferno type of scenario. Reporter bandaged and handcuffed, he showed no emotions. Tell us what happened. Lost it. Reporter the 46yearold is charged with setting a fire at the Lincoln Hotel that killed his girlfriend. People was running down the hallway. Everybody was like get out, get out, theres fire. Reporter Surveillance Video from across the street shows small putting gas into a coffee cup. According to the affidavit, he returned to his first floor room at the motel. Then it said just after 2 00 this morning, he threw gasoline in her face as she smoked a cigarette. Small said because he was angry. We believe she reached out to him and yelled his name and he left her in there to die. Reporter authorities found small walking in the area. His hands were burned and he smelled like gas. Smalls family contacted authorities saying he called them confessing to the crime. Nbc 10 was there as police were hauling him away.
