India s pharmaceutical exports surge 9.67% to USD 27.9 billion in 2023-24, despite a 3% dip in total exports. March sees a 12.73% rise to USD 2.8 billion. US remains the top market, comprising over 31% of exports, followed by the UK and the Netherlands. Growing market opportunities expected to drive further growth.

India s pharma industry has to grow by 3-4 times to account for 20% of manufacturing sector, said Arunish Chawla, secretary department of pharmaceuticals (DOP) said today at the CII Lifesciences summit. Known as the pharmacy of the world, Indias pharma sector exported $50 billion last year.
“Indias exports amount to a billion dollars per year in these countries,” one of the experts said, asking not to be named. He said a protracted Israeli-Palestinian war would impact flight services to these countries and subsequently hit pharma exports from India.
