It stars Peter Meikle and Rae McGregor. Cameron said Havelock Lions was hoping to raise $1500 from the performance, to add to the $650 already raised from an earlier market. The Havelock club, together with several other Lions clubs, have pledged a total of $500,000 for the construction of the specially designed therapeutic playscape at the Wellington Children’s Hospital, still under construction.

The Havelock Lions are putting on Love Letters at the Canvastown Hall on January 23. Playscapes, with special sensory surfaces, had been used for some time by hospitals overseas for various therapies, and had proven to aid rehabilitation, and increase emotional states, social participation and well-being.

Soon after this year’s great Australian supermarket stampede began in March, Prime Minister Scott Morrison issued an SOS to his Vietnamese counterpart, Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Rice was among the staples emptying fastest from supermarket shelves, the drought had already impacted local growers, and Morrison wanted to be sure Vietnamese rice would be available to bolster dwindling supplies, both here and for our Pacific neighbours.
In a phone call to Phuc in early April, he sought an assurance that Australia’s access would not be threatened by the blanket slowdown Vietnam was placing on its own exports of the grain. It was an assurance, it’s understood, Phuc was willing to give.
