i m doreen gentzler. department of justice announced charges of three men accused of trying to bribe the chairman of the taxi cab commission. they were trying to pay the chairman to get individual taxi cab operator licensees. dorothy spencer is downtown with more on this. reporter: dozens of cab drivers were indicted today on bribery charges, the amounts reach into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. 39 people, many of them d.c. cabbies have been indicted in a massive federal bribery investigation. the indictments unsealed today allege that the suspects conspired to bribe leon swayne, chair of the d.c. taxi cab commission. he was working with the government in an undercover role and cooperated fully in the investigation. for these three men are accused of handing out $220,000 of cash to swayne to obtain multivehicle taxi cab company licensees. they became more valuable when the city council passed a moratorium on them a year ago. the suspects agreed to give the chairman
