Pertubuhan Rumpun Etnik Sabah (Presbah) President Yahya Ahmad said something needs to be done to address the presence of stray dogs found in almost every nook and cranny of the district.   He said although the District Council has agreed to provide several acres for a dog pound, the question to be answered is who will manage the stray dog issue.   “Stray dogs are seen everywhere, near schools, clinics, hospitals, offices, towns, shops, housing area and villages,” he said after a meeting at the District Council Office, here, Thursday.  He said there doesn’t seem to be a solution to the issue despite the effect it may have on health and public safety

NGOs urge for increased vaccination rate in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Sabah are calling for an increased vaccination rate in the state in order to achieve herd immunity sooner. They are also urging the Federal Government to come up with recovery plans and SOPs that focus on the needs of the state instead of looking at the nation as a whole. Pertubuhan Angkatan Gabungan Rakyat Sabah president Datuk Micheal Frederick said apart from subsidies and government assistance, vaccinations must be made readily available nationwide and procedures simplified for recipients to get their jabs. What s important is for vaccinations to be hastened so that herd immunity can be achieved as soon as possible.
