judgments. and it s not just about objective measures, not just about test scores. you know, teaching is a fundamentally human enterprise and in order for our schools to become more meaningful and in your to you touring and teach as at a higher level, we have to recognize what it means. and what that means is the prael has to make their own judgments about their team. and not have a city or a state make those judgments based solely on test scores. isn t there a danger if you are relying mostly on the principal s subjective opinion, that you could end up with personality conflicts leading to knob sort of scoring? that s exactly, you know, what the critics do claim about that idea. about you, an and this is what happens in all charter schools. so the principal has to be held equally accountability. and the principal has to be held accountable for everything, including test scores. in schools like ours, you know, the teachers are not only do
another major change in the president s economic team. christina romer, she s head of the economic the council of economic advisors and she s stepping down. announcing she s leaving the white house in early september. now, romer has long indicated her time in washington would probably be temporary. she s widely respected among her administration colleagues although there were some reports about tensions between her and larry summers, the president s economic advisor. according to jonathan alter in his book the promise the two got into a shouting match on one occasion when she felt she was being excluded from an important meeting. she co-wrote a paper that predicted the stimulus package would prevent unemployment from rising above 8%. a prediction that turned out to be wrong and come under attack from the president s republican opponents and she supported a larger stimulus package than the president ultimately backed but white house officials say her departure is not due to any pers
