of the justice department, saying that was the central issue of our time is, i think how we refer to it. and obviously, you know, when you pull voters, those are not the top issues that they have concerns about. maybe trump s some trump supporters to do do but generally republican voters. that s not the top of their list. and so it was just notable to me that that was kind of his central message is the investigations. he s broken, the focusing or that he s facing the legal peril that he is in, and that was kind of the message that he was driving home. now, on the flip side of that, i will say there were a lot of people people at this rally. there was a lot of enthusiasm at this rally. so i think that is an important thing to note when the reporters are there on the ground when we talk about and you hear from people like chris christie, who just said tonight in an injury with axios that because you know, the january 6th choir was playing at the beginning of that rally, he says he can t
americans. and instead of solving health care issues, education, all these other issues, they want to create resentment and division and hate, particularly among white americans, towards these brown skinned immigrants. we re getting serious about fixing this is dumb that everyone does agree is fundamentally not working. i want to ask you, there s a bill to help deported veterans, noncitizen troops, it cleared the house last week. you ve been a big advocate trying to get deported veterans back to this country. what will it take to get it passed the senate? well, i m hoping that there are ten republican senators who believe that when somebody puts on the uniform of the united states military, when someone puts their life on the line and is willing to risk their life for this country, but that person, they will believe that that person shouldn t be kicked out of the united states of america. particularly when these veterans have the opportunity, actually, to apply for citizenship, but
republicans there. you re hearing many of them argue the moral aspect of it. it we re looking at it in moral vermont political. there s widespread agreement you shouldn t be asking dinner with white supremacists. but politically, we have been here before. when i first started covering trump in 2015, the week-long news cycle of him dancing around whether or not he condemned david duke and ties to the kkk. then we had the charlottesville moment telling white nationalists to stand back and standby from the debate stage. now we re here again. the difference is that politically, trump is weaker than he was a at any of those points. that might be why we re seeing so many republicans willing to condemn him. let s make it clear. none of them are saying this person shouldn t be the leader of this party. i want to tell you what martin cline told the new york
sobriety tests that i can administer or my patrolman are going to show impairment. it s then later on when you get into processing where you re given the opportunity to do the breathalyzer test where it s determine it s not necessarily alcohol, it s something else, and that s where i come in as a drug recognition expert. once we figure out it s not an alcohol dwi, i do a standardized set of 12 tests which are able to determine what drug can category you re under the influence of which includes cannabis. reporter: so you ve obviously been trained in this, but it is different than alcohol where you have a standardized test and a limit, a breathalyzer, blowing a .08, you re in trouble. you don t have the same for marijuana, so what challenge does that present when it comes to identifying that this person shouldn t be driving? it makes it fairly simple to still identify, it s when we go to court and we have to prove it that it becomes more channeling. obviously, the breathalyzer test h
prior instances, that will be our specific answer. i acknowledge that it is very unsatisfying at this point. hopefully at some point in the near future, we can share more about that, but at this stage, that s the best we can give you and that s going to be the same answer for everybody up here. it s really, the design behind that is to protect persons that have been accused of crime and been charged and then the case is dismissed. the idea behind it is that that person shouldn t have to carry that charge around with them for the rest of their lives. if there s no way to convict them of that charge. that s the design behind it. i know it s an unsatisfying answer, but that s the status of the law as it exists right now. if it changes to that specific thing you re asking about, i ll be passing that information out.
