thanks for sticking around. it s friday. we have a lot going on a major show the d.a. who made history by indicting donald trump is under a lot of scrutiny. he has a very interesting record, a record that includes beating trump in court previously did you know that? we have been working on one of our special reports around here, and we are going to air it for you live tonight on manhattan district attorney alvin bragg. that s coming up we begin on the federal side of thing where is the criminal probe of trump continues he is a criminal defendant in new york but the federal case involves a star witness who was also targeted for harm or assassination by then sitting president donald trump when i say those words out loud here, it almost sounds like extreme or hard to remember, but that is really what happened you might think if you were defending yourself in the case where you re accused of causing harm to your own vice president, you d want him to testify and say on your be
the city but not being afraid of challenging the city and its e lead and its leadership and its powerful police department, which does a lot of good, a lot of people in new york will tell you what nypd does that s positive for safety, but doesn t mean everyone is perfect, and certainly not above the law. the reason why i m getting into this tonight is that he not only said but acted on the idea that criminal justice needs leadership that holds others accountable for crime and doesn t stand down just because the crime is suddenly by the powerful or an ally of the d.a. or a police officer even i mention this tonight because it s something we ve reported on many times right here in this program. you can put the politicians and police to the side and think about, say, doctors. it would be understandable doctors might feel protective if they get allegations made against a fellow doctor or a nurse, but that s their instinct but doctor, who are a serious
higher calling to protect life, and that s what police and d.a.s are supposed to have, they make life and death decisions for the government, so doctors find out that other doctors or nurses are murdering people in the e.r., well, obviously the right reaction would be to stop it immediately and not cover it up. but as bragg accurately referenced, the evidence has shown in some of these cases including mr. garner s that other officers and people in law enforcement cover up the underlying killing so that s how this all goes circle not talking about independence or bringing cases when it s easy what do you do when it s hard, when there s pressure, when bringing a case might make people say you should never get a big job again? that was on the line and even while bragg was campaigning for the d.a. spot, he participated in a rare judicial inquiry involving that garner case that he was showing he could do more than one thing at a time.

taken the step that was just taken by the newly elected and largely unknown district of attorney of new york, alvin bragg putting that man you see on your screen behind the table at an arraignment of a defendant, just like any other person d.a. bragg brought the first-ever indictment of a former president and of this particular person, defendant donald trump so that bring us us to this special report for you right now, because more than any other person in the world, more than really the current president or the attorney general or trump s rivals for the republican nomination that he seeks is now, think about this, it s now alvin bragg who could decide trump s future, which may have a big impact on other people s lives, it s alvin bragg who has the most formal authority and likely influence on whether donald trump goes ahead to be tried or
