CSTO Permanent Council approves draft statement on banning new WMDs

MOSCOW, 22 January (BelTA) – The Permanent Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) approved drafts of several important political statements, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.
“The Permanent Council has finalized the draft statements of the CSTO member states on prohibiting development and production of new types of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and new WMD systems and on ensuring stability worldwide,” Vladimir Zainetdinov said. “The documents will be forwarded to UN ambassadors of the CSTO member states for revision and adoption,” he added.
The meeting of the Permanent Council was held online and was chaired by Tajikistan s Permanent Representative Hasan Sultonov.
"The Permanent Council considered and finalized the draft resolution of the CSTO Collective Security Council on measures to strengthen cooperation with the CIS and the SCO. Work on the document will continue at the next meetings of the council," the spokesman said.
CSTO to hold consultations on biological security
MOSCOW, 29 December (BelTA) - The member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are planning to hold consultations on biological security, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zaynetdinov told BelTA following the meeting of the CSTO Permanent Council on 29 December.
“The Permanent Council discussed the issue of holding consultations of experts of interested departments of the CSTO member states on the development of relevant documents on biological security,” the spokesman informed.
The main focus of the meeting was on the draft action plan to implement the decisions of the CSTO Collective Security Council session held on 2 December and the implementation of priority areas proposed by Tajikistan for the period of the CSTO presidency. “It was decided to submit the document to the ministries of foreign affairs of the CSTO member states,” the spokesman said.
