KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 22 ― Eight new Covid-19 clusters have been detected nationwide today by the Ministry of Health, bringing Malaysia’s total to 459 clusters since the virus broke out here.
Five of them are spread out in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor while the ministry said Johor, Perak and Sabah each has one new cluster.
The first cluster, dubbed the Pasar Baru cluster, has 309 cases so far out of 2,001 people screened. Its index patient was reported as Covid-19 positive on December 15, with the infection having since spread to Klang and Kuala Langat in Selangor.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (
pic) said the four workplace clusters were in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, with three of them related to construction sites.
The Tapak Bina Permai cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur has 48 Covid-19 cases so far, after 1,087 workers underwent targeted screening.
The Tapak Bina Laut cluster involves the districts of Lembah Pantai, Cheras and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur.
He said 542 individuals had been screened for Covid-19, in which eight people had tested positive so far.
Another construction site cluster, the Tapak Bina Matahari cluster, is based in the Titiwangsa district in Kuala Lumpur and has a total of 15 cases with 778 people tested.
