Covid-19 (Dec 25): 1,247 new cases, S gor leads while Johor surges 25 Dis 2020, 10:27 pagi Updated3 months ago - COVID-19 | The Health Ministry today reported 1,247 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative cases to 101,565. Klang Valley states and territories accounted for 48.8 percent of the new cases followed by Sabah (18.0 percent) and Johor (16.4 percent). In Selangor, there were 152 cases that were detected through other screenings . According to the state health department, nearly half of these were screened after developing symptoms or have sought private screening. The figures showed that 68 sought testing after developing symptoms including one healthcare worker, and other patients that had developed a severe acute respiratory infection. Another six tested positive during voluntary screening at private laboratories. Learn more about other screenings here.

Cases in Malaysia exceed China s

Thursday, 17 Dec 2020 PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia’s 1,295 new Covid-19 infections meant that its cumulative number of cases has now exceeded that of China’s. At a press conference yesterday, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country now has 87,913 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic. The figure has surpassed the 86,770 cumulative cases reported yesterday by China. The world figures are led by the United States, which has recorded about 17 million cases. Yesterday, Malaysia saw seven more Covid-19 deaths, bringing the death toll to 429 in the country so far. Dr Noor Hisham said of the deaths, five were in Sabah and one each in Selangor and Kelantan.

Covid-19: Eight new clusters discovered

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah ( pic) said the four workplace clusters were in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, with three of them related to construction sites. The Tapak Bina Permai cluster in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur has 48 Covid-19 cases so far, after 1,087 workers underwent targeted screening. The Tapak Bina Laut cluster involves the districts of Lembah Pantai, Cheras and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur. He said 542 individuals had been screened for Covid-19, in which eight people had tested positive so far. Another construction site cluster, the Tapak Bina Matahari cluster, is based in the Titiwangsa district in Kuala Lumpur and has a total of 15 cases with 778 people tested.
