EDWARDSVILLE A logistics company is suing a former driver, alleging he violated an employment agreement by suddenly leaving his job and going to work for a competitor.
C. Pepper Logistics LLC filed a complaint March 22 in the Madison County Circuit Court against James Ely, alleging breach of contract.
According to the plaintiff s complaint, C. Pepper Logistics entered into an independent contractor agreement with Ely that includes a confidentiality clause and non-solicitation clause. The plaintiff alleges Ely was hired as a driver and, according to the contract, was obligated to give ten-business days notice before leaving. C. Pepper Logistics claims Ely simply left his job duties in order to work for a competitor they allege lured him away with promises, misrepresentations and money.
