Young hiker found safe
ELLSWORTH â A 12-year-old girl whose mother called police Monday after the daughter was late returning from a hike was located safely by a family member.
Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, a Sullivan woman reported that her daughter had not come home from a hike.
Deputies responded to the scene and were assisted by the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service. Sullivan Fire and Rescue crews also responded to assist in the search.
The girlâs uncle had gone to look for her on the trail system she typically walks on. He found her not long after law enforcement arrived on scene.
