Distracted driver has close call with telephone pole Trenton    No one was injured in a single car accident on Route 3 around 11 a.m. on April 14. Joseph Parsons, 45, of Trenton, was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius northbound. As it neared the intersection of Jordan River Road, the car drifted off the right side of the road. When it did, it struck a curb and then a wooden fence. There was reportable damage to the front end of the Prius. No reason for the accident was stated in the report.     According to police reports, a woman was taken to the hospital around 8:45 p.m. on April 14 after the vehicle she was driving ran into a telephone pole, snapping the pole in half. Erika Sargent, 30, of Ellsworth, told police she was distracted with her cell phone when the 1999 Toyota Rav4 she was driving crossed the center line of Route 3 and went into a ditch on the opposite side of the road. Hancock County Sheriff’s Log Week of April 22 Young hiker found safe ELLSWORTH — A 12-year-old girl whose mother called police Monday after the daughter was late returning from a hike was located safely by a family member. Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, a Sullivan woman reported that her daughter had not come home from a hike. Deputies responded to the scene and were assisted by the Maine State Police and the Maine Warden Service. Sullivan Fire and Rescue crews also responded to assist in the search. The girl’s uncle had gone to look for her on the trail system she typically walks on. He found her not long after law enforcement arrived on scene.
