KOTA KINABALU: Residents in the semi-rural Penampang district near here are upset over proposed parking feesĀ ahead of the township being upgraded to a municipality on April 1.
THE owner of some vacant land, off Jalan Nosoob Hungab, has been compounded RM3,000 for defying the Penampang District Council’s instructions to stop putting up a “kongsi (workers’ quarters)” despite knowing full well that the structure is illegal.
DEPUTY Chief Minister II cum Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam said Penampang is ready for Municipal Council status and expects the transition to be complete within three months.
