The Upper East Side townhouse will be as protected as the white house, perhaps more so. The mayor said the city is ready. A lot of measures you will see and a lot of measures you wont see. That means things are being done right. I feel very good about where we stand right now. If there was any nervousness about security the mayor wasnt showing it and neither was the Police Commissioner who said there is no credible threat against the pope. He was asked if if unprecedented amount of resources going into protecting the pontiff will leave some recently crime precincts without patrol. The popes visit will not interfere with any of the coverage we have in our various precincts. While only in the city for about 40 hours the pope will be on the move from the World Trade Center memorial to a Catholic School in east harlem to a 12 block ride through central park any time the pontiff could go off strip and cross security barriers and wading into a sea of people.
