Naveen S Garewal   Hyderabad, February 14   Fourteen people died in a collision between a bus and a truck in Andhra Pradesh’s Kurnool district on Sunday morning. Four injured have been admitted to hospital.   The accident took place near Madarpur village in Kurnool district’s Veldurti Mandal at 4 am when a group of people hailing from Chittoor district of the state were travelling in the minibus towards Hyderabad. They were reportedly going for a pilgrimage to Ajmer in Rajasthan. Kurnool Superintendent of Police K. Fakirappa said “the minibus was carrying 18 people, who were on their way to Ajmer in Rajasthan for pilgrimage. Four children survived the accident with injuries but the condition of two of them is stated to be critical”.

The incident took place at 3.30 am near Madarpur village in Veldurti Mandal of Kurnool district. Giving the details of the accident, Veldurti Sub Inspector Peddaiah Naidu and Krishnagiri sub-inspector Ramanjaneya Reddy told ANI, The bus was going from to Ajmer in Rajasthan. The bus reached Madarpur village at around 3.30 am. The bus went in the wrong direction hit the lorry that was coming from the opposite direction. There were 17 persons in the bus. 13 of them, including the driver, died on the spot, while 4 were injured. The injured have been admitted to Kurnool Government General Hospital, they added.

The accident occurred when a mini-bus in which the victims, all relatives and hailing from Madanapalle in Chittoor district of the state, were travelling collided with a lorry at Madapuram around 4 AM, Kurnool District Superintendent of Police K.Fakirappa said. The passengers were on their way to the Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan, he said.
