The NAACP-El Dorado chapter hosted a Night of Excellence on Thursday at the Mahony Family Library, featuring several local, Black authors, including, from left, the Rev. Dr. Odell Carr, "Resurrecting the Black Mind;" former El Dorado Mayor Veronica Smith-Creer, author of "My Mimi is the Mayor;" LaTasha Woods, author of "Top Draft Pick" and "Dollars and $ense: Financial Literacy for Kids;" and Pearline Gill, author of "Pearls of Wisdom" and "The Voice of Fear." The event was held to promote literacy and diverse representation in literature.
