Save the Children and partners return 58 abducted children and women to their families

6 April, Juba: 58 children and women previously abducted from their families during inter-communal violence were returned to their families, as part of a Save the Children-led partnership with UNMISS and other agencies.
The children and women were abducted from across the country, including Akobo, Walgak, Pierri, Lankien, Pibor and Maiwut. The children range in age from two to eighteen with some separated from their families for more than five years.
Rumbek East: Two warring communities make peace, agree to graze cattle together
The two warring communities of Kok-Awac and Pacuer resolved and agreed to coexist peacefully and share the Pulkuc cattle camp in Rumbek East County of Lakes State.
The two sections sat on Monday in a peace and reconciliation dialogue organized by the Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund (POF) and resolved that they will graze their cattle together, confess and forgive each other, avoid songs that incite violence, create an alliance and drink alcohol responsibly.
The peace dialogue also resolved that as the two communities move to the wetlands to graze their animals during the coming dry season, they will coexist peacefully, continue to observe the agreement in letter and spirit and that whoever has ill intentions will be contacted and persuaded individually or dealt with ritually. Cultural festival week kicks off in Rumbek
The Cipuou-mat community-based organization, supported by Peacebuilding Opportunities Fund (POF), has organized week-long cultural activities in the Lakes State capital, Rumbek.
The event commenced on Saturday at Akon Buoi Cultural Centre under the theme, Achieving Peace through Cultural Diversity.
The launch of the cultural week which was attended by over 100 participants from different communities was officially opened by Lakes State governor, Makur Kulang Liei.
Governor Makur Kulang told Radio Tamazuj that the diverse communities of Lakes State should cease intercommunal hostilities and revenge killings and that the use of guns to kill each other has never been a culture of the community.
