A year after eight persons were killed in the violence that hit Lakhimpur Kheri, with five of them mowed down by vehicles belonging to Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra and son Ashish Mishra, families of the victims are still awaiting justice.
Hailing the Supreme Court s ruling to cancel the bail granted to Ashish Mishra, an accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Monday said that he has faith in the judiciary and hoped that farmers will soon get justice.
Mishra was arrested on October 9 after repeated criticism of the state government for the way it handled the investigation in the case. On February 10, he was granted bail by the Allahabad high court.
